mysql_init() appeared in 3.22.0. (It appeared in include/mysql.h
in 3.21.33b, but as a commented-out line; I think the developers
were getting it ready but hadn't implemented it then.)

mysql_real_connect() is present in 3.21.33b, but I don't know
when it first appeared. It's certainly not present in 3.20.x.
Anyone got a more definite answer?
