I have recently added WinLinux 2000 to my Windows 98 computer and am trying
to add MySQL but have had a lot of trouble. I first downloaded
3.22.32-pc-linux-gnu-i686 to mydocuments folder on my C drive and tried to
install it. Here is what happened when I was in the Linux terminal:
wl2000:/DOS/mydocu~1# gunzip -d -c mysql-~1.tar | tar xvf -
gunzip: mysql-~1: not in gzip format I then tried:.tar: no
wl2000:/DOS/mydocu~1# gunzip < mysql-~1.tar | tar xvf - but I got the same
error:
gunzip: mysql-~1: not in gzip format

since I recently downloaded gzip but don't know how to install it or how to
convert mysql-~1.tar to gzip format I tried an RPM file and downloaded it to
mydocuments folder on my C drive. But I also had problems with this. Here is
what happended when I was in the Linux terminal:
wl2000:/DOS/mydocu~1# rpm -1 mysql-~5.rpm mysql-~4.rpm (where mysql-~5.rpm
= version & mysql-~4.rpm=client)
failed dependencies:
    /bin/sh is needed by MySQL-3.22.32-1
    /bin/sh is needed by MySQL-3.22.32-1
    /usr/bin/perl is needed by MySQL-3.22.32-1
    /bin/sh is needed by MySQL-client-3.22.32-1
/usr/bin/perl is needed by MySQL-client-3.22.32-1 so I moved to
/usr/bin but this didn't work either:

wl2000:/usr/bin# rpm -1 mysql-~5.rpm mysql-~4.rpm
error: cannot open file mysql-~5.rpm
error: cannot open file mysql-~4.rpm

Could you please help me get MySQL on my computer. Thanks,
Mike
