Thank you.

In the PDF doc:
4.1.0 Server based Character Settings
Setting the servers default character set
>mysqld ?default-character-set=ujis
or (in my.cnf etc.)
[mysqld]
default-character-set=ujis

That's what I want by my last mail.

For my case, shall I change it to:
[mysqld]
default-character-set=utf8

Another question, shall I have to upgrade to MySQL 4.1.x?

Thank you very much..

Hello,

I have made apresentation at MySQLs UC2004 about using Japanese character
sets with MySQL. You may find this a good starting point. Links are below:

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/Charset.html
http://www.be-known-online.com/mysql

I hope you find this information useful

Best regards

Nils Valentin
