Need some help installing mySQL. Here's what I've
done:
Section 4.2 of the manual states that version 3.22.33
for win32 exists as shareware. There's a link there
also (on the 3.22.33 text), but it appears the link
there is broken, because it goes to a page that
discusses version 3.23.19. I assume that version is
NOT shareware.
I have installed a mySQL-shareware-3.22.33-win.zip
file on my machine. Is this a source or binary
distribution? In sections 4.6 and 4.7 of the manual,
both of these installation instructions contain the
commands
shell> scripts/mysql_install_db
bin/safe_mysqld &
However, I don't even have a scripts directory within
my C:/mySQL directory. I also don't have the
safe_mysqld file in my /bin directory. I do, however,
have a file 'mysqld-shareware.exe'. Do I run that
file?
It looks like the installation instructions in 4.6 and
4.7 are not applicable to win32. Is that correct?
