I did some searching. I did find two messages within this group but, the
only advice was to try to run as a stand alone - I did and it failed -
and to check the MS SCM. The path is correct.

I did some further checking at MS and found that under NT, a Event ID of
7000 was fairly common. I checked out what to do and I did discover that
within the registry under services>mysql the type is a 16bit app - not
32 bit.

Now, I know that a 0x000000 10 (16) is Hex and then Dec so, 0x000000 20
(32) would be a Hex / Dec 32 bit. Im not going to make this change
without some further investigation but, that is what I found.

I have searched many other groups but with no help on this issue.

I downloaded the database software a few days ago but have run into one
problem after another. Through many different tutorials I have sought
answers but today, having realized that I have looked in Event Viewer, I
found a (what is to me) a potentially serious problem:
    Date: 06142004
    Time 14:28:42
    Type: Error
    Source: Service Control Manager
    Event ID: 7000
Description: The MySql service failed to start due to the following
error: MySql is not a valid Win32 application.

Ok. Im on XP and I have had Mysql working previously. Now, I cant get my
old version to install, the new version to install, and I am unsure as
to why this is occurring.

Any possible help would be much appreciated.
