Hi,
I've managed to get my hands on some paper betas of the mysql cert exams
(Dev I+II, DBA I+II). That is, Jon will be bringing them back for me
from Sorrento, Italy (there was a mysql developer meeting there).
The beta means there you get more questions, and it might take a while
to get your results as there's more analysis involved (if some questions
are scrapped, etc). But other than that it's "real".
These are not upgrade exams yet, so it only makes sense to do say DBA
I+II if you either have the core cert already or don't care about it.
Or you do Dev I+II if you haven't yet taken the MySQL Core exam.
The 5.0 certs consist of 2 tests, you pass both (in any order) to get
the cert. Later on, when the upgrades are available also:
Core 4 + Dev 5 upgrade = Dev 5 cert.
Prof 4 + DBA 5 upgrade = DBA 5 cert.
So in the end you always have 2 exams to get a cert anyway.
The big diff is that can get DBA cert without needing Dev also (contrary
to the 4 certs where you could only do Prof after passing Core).
If you want to sit for any of the MySQL 5 beta exams, I suggest you grab
the new MySQL 5 certification guide from your local bookstore. Borders
in town generally has them, as does Dymocks.
We could have an exam session at 6pm before the April meeting (shifting
the meeting to 7:30), that's probably easiest if multiple people want to
sit for something. If you prefer to do a cert 4 still, that's fine also.
The cost for any exam remains at AUD $99.
Anyone? speak up now! ;-)
Thanks.
Regards,
Arjen.
