Subject:Turn off foreign key checks
View as plain text
Hi,

When I try to drop an index in MySQL, I get an error. This is because there
exists a foreign key on the indexed column.
I don't want to drop the Foreign Key. A workaround for this is turning off
the Foreign Key Checks using

SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=0;

But this doesn't seem to work in many of the MySQL versions.
I'm using MySQL 4.0.17. Does anyone know how to get rid of this error?
