building a project with dev-cpp

hi im now trying to learn a bit about mysql++ and im using dev-cpp but i get
linker errors even though i set the lib file mysqlpp.lib

could this be because i compiled mysql++ in vc2008 or do i have to compile
it in another way other than descriped in the readme file?

the linker errors i get is:
  [Linker error] undefined reference to
`_imp___ZN7mysqlpp10ConnectionC1EPKcS2_S2_S2_j'


  [Linker error] undefined reference to `mysqlpp::Connection::~Connection()'
