Prepared Statements vS Template Queries?

I have a question. I saw that you do not support prepared statements
for now (http://lists.mysql.com/plusplus/5864). Are they not more or
less equivalent to the Template Queries we have in mysql++ ? I think
that Template queries will do just as fine as Prepared statements ,
because they are both NOT cached on the server, although the latter
have probably some lower C optimizations? What do you think, guys?
