So what started me on all this was the statement that MySQL++ via LGPL
was no good for use by proprietary apps. 
Which I thought ran counter to what LGPL was about.

I assume then it only allows for static linking? (because of the type of
technology it is)

Precisely.  That leads me to:

	proprietary app linking to LGPL library: dynamic only

It is not the only possible way, but it is the only sane way.

What difficulties remain, once you make that decision?
