Interesting one. Please try the following:

	perl Makefile.PL --config --static OPTIMIZE=-g LINKTYPE=static
	make
	make perl
	cd Mysql
	../perl -I../blib/arch -I../blib/lib t/40blobs.t


and let me see the output.
