my.cnf being renamed

Hi all:

I'm running mysql on NT and have a my.cnf file in c:\ directory. 
I noticed that it is being renamed to my_cnf.bak. Does anyone know
why it happens? I know i don't do it and don't have any scheduled 
scripts to do it.
