We had IBM on site for our foray into DB2-land. The guy spent a lot
of time on the phone with some support person, who would then forward
me patch requests for Solaris. A good part of the time, they wanted either
obsolete patches or patches that weren't yet publically released. Many
times, the patches they wanted didn't correspond to the problem we
reported (i.e., we had a problem with libc, they'd send us a kernel patch.)
I also got the feeling from the number of fixpaks we had to apply (and
continue to apply) that UDB isn't quite a finished product, although you'd
never get IBM to admit that.
So, while they *were* responsive, they weren't necessarily helpful.
I have no idea what kind of support we'll get now that IBM isn't on site.
