Cannot uninstall MySQL-3_22_16a-gamma-1_i386.rpm

Hi,

I'm having a great deal of difficulty removing mySQL from my RH5.2
installation.  I'm sure the problem is well documented by now, but I'm at a
loss.  The problem: though 'installed' using rpm,
MySQL-3_22_16a-gamma-1_i386.rpm will not uninstall.  RPM claims that the
package is not installed, while glint and 'rpm -qa' both show that it is.

Any ideas on how I can fix the problem?
