I had the same problem but since I was only running on a test machine I
tried a forced upgrade and it worked. A better way would probably be to
uninstall the old version and then install the new one.
*Make sure you backup data dirs and altered files before!* Just in case.

hello,
I try to install MySQL.rpm on a server where another version of MySQL is
already installed.
I type rpm -i mysql.rpm
or rpm -U mysql.rpm
but it gives me always the same error message :
conflicts with file from mysql-3.22.21-3
what can I do ???
