I think you're having some problems with shell quoting. Try:

/usr/bin/mysql --user=**** --password=**** --host=localhost
--port=3306 --execute="INSERT INTO TableName SET TextField='$1'"
DatabaseName

or:

/usr/bin/mysql --user=**** --password=**** --host=localhost
--port=3306 "--execute=INSERT INTO TableName SET TextField='$1'"
DatabaseName
