Then it is a bug.
You did not supply mysqlbug report and I do not see what distribution
are you using, source or binary.
It if it is source, then it might be some error in sizes, or something
like that, as PPC is (tell me if I am wrong) 64 bits wide !!!
If it is source check out config.log.
