I used the mysql-3.22.20a-pc-solaris2.6 binary and it works great.  My
platform is Pentium Pro, solaris 7.

I also installed egcs-1.1.2 on the solaris using the gnu compiler from the
Sun free site.  The egcs compiler may eliminate your problems if you don't
want to use the mysql binary for solaris.
