Subject:Msql-Mysql-modules-1.2014 "make test" can't connect

I can't seem to get the "make test" to work with "Msql-Mysql-modules-1.2014"

the server is running fine, and I can connect as nobody or root or whomever
else, and PHP3 is working fine connecting to the databases as well.

my version of Perl is up to speed I believe, and this is a brand new VARserver
3000 from VA research...
