Bit late in this discussion but, Reiserfs can be used on 2.2.xx
kernels, so you don't need a newer, as in 2.4, kernel to run it. It
seems from the mailing list (reiserfs list that is) that there are
some fairly well known companies using reiserfs on large amounts of
data as well. But note that no 64 bit yet, unless you're running
Alpha.
