Multiple mySQL

Is it possible to have multiple instances of mySQL
running, and have the database files NFS mounted?
Each server would access the same NFS mounted
mySQL database.  I'm doing this because I'm using
mySQL authentication and accounting with Radius,
and load balancing requests for 3 sun ultra's.  If this
is not possible would Oracle or Sybase do the job??
