Is there any way we can get around this?  Maybe if you show us
where it is crashing when you try to compile with debugging, we
will be able to spot it.  The thing is, if this is a bug in
MySQL we would really like to fix it.  (Even if it isn't, we'd
like to know for sure what the problem is.)

Compiling a debugging version is a very big help in finding these
kinds of problems.  Please, if you can, send the output of make
(so we can see what is crashing).
