Subject:Newbie question - best interface
View as plain text
Okay,
I am fairly new to Linux. Very new to mySQL but with some
experience [MS Visual FoxPro] with SQL and always with a
graphical interface to the DB. I am moving ahead with the
new mySQL book and making good progress from the command
line, but if I am to reach my goal I will need a graphical
interface on Linux. That is initially. Eventually, I will
need to web enable to run over an intranet via frame relay
(64k). So as to initial graphical interfaces do I use:
Commercial product	Omnis Softwares package with native
mySQL support
PERL Will need to learn (need to learn anyway).
C Gotta learn some anyway bit only very basic knowledge
at this time.

Time: Limited. computers are a hobby, free support for
my partners, etc. Main occupation is physician but am
trying to move all operations to AIX and Linux and remove
all requirements for M$.

All comments appreciated. If there are other ways to
approach the interface, just point the direction. I can
read, learn, and am not afraid of screwing everything up if
I can learn something from it.

TIA

Bob
