Please repost with the make output;  If you get the same output, you
didn't remove all -ldl and -lm:s!

Another option is to configure with:

make distclean
rm config.cache
CC=gcc CXX=gcc CXXFLAGS="-O6 -felide-constructors -fno-exceptions -fno-rtti" ./configure
--prefix=/usr/local/mysql --with-mysqld-ldflags=-all-static --disable-shared
make
make install

Does the above work better?
