From the looks of it you've downloaded it through something (a web
browser) that's changed the filename. I'm pretty sure you'll find that
it's a gzipped archive in which case you'll need to unzip it first.
try: tar zxvf mysql-3_22_27-pc-linux-gnu-i686_tar.tar
if this doesn't work then rename it and put a .gz on the end...
