a problem when insert use C

hi all:
I am new users for Mysql CAPI.
A problem when I use "mysql_query"
such as :

static char kk[]="insert";
mysql_query(&mysql,"insert into pet (name) values (kk)");

but it not insert into db,how to write it ?
