Subject:Question about my build of MySQL 5.6.10

I build from source but find that libmysqlclient_r is merely a symlink to libmysqlclient. 
Is that expected?

$ uname -a

I can't seem to find any cmake variables necessary to force a build of a
threaded/reentrant version of "stuff" but I'm probably missing something?
