How fast does this run?
JOIN B ON B.A_ID = A.id
WHERE B.name LIKE 'X%';
Turning a subquery into a JOIN usually improves performance. (The main exception is when
the subquery consolidates data via GROUP BY, DISTINCT, LIMIT, etc.)
