1) Go to the mailing list archive.
    http://www.progressive-comp.com/Lists/?l=mysql&r=1&w=2#mysql

2) Find the search box at the top of the page.
    Type in "undefined reference to mysql_init".

3) Read.
    The thread "[MySQL]" might be particularly useful.

Note:  this is what you should do each time you have a question
that you can't answer by reading the manual.  A URL for the
manual is given at the bottom of every posting to this list.
