take it or not

it is a professional solution which works for
databses with 20 GB every day here with rsync
without interrupt/lock mysqld a second

and it is much faster

it takes 5 minutes starting a replication salve on the same machine
with its own socket/port

wait until it is fixed or think about a better solution
which will work in the future
