This is false; BSDI has native threads. You are confusing kernel
threads with "native" threads. You do not need to use MIT pthreads
with BSDI.
I've never had problems with MySQL on bsd/os at all. I have my own
mod_auth_mysql module that has authenticated tens of millions of
accesses to the site over the last several years. The key is to not
worry about authenticating images; just the real content. This saves
a tremendous load on both your web servers and your SQL server.
