Hi,
Your storage engine is Innodb?. If your answer is yes, please see below :
innodb_data_file_path=/u01/ibdata1:50M;/u01/ibdata2:50M*;/u03/ibdata3:100M *
You can create a new ibdata ( tablespace) in a new device :
1) Stop mysql
2) Change conf ( add new one tablespace)
3) start mysql
