You know, a lot of packages -- not just MySQL -- would
probably benefit their userbase by developing a suite of
wiki pages, etc., detailing case studies of typical uses,
applications and hardware/software configurations.
Obviously, every possible scenario would be impossible to
model -- but that's not an issue. The point would be that a
lot of people would be able to get a clue, by even rough
comparison with their own situations.
This also doesn't seem like a lot of work for the
knowledgeable to set up either. It can be done at any
comfortable pace too. And it might save a bit of repetitive
advice-giving on the eLists.
