Graeme,

It seems you are a roxen advocate, hadn't heard of it until today,
but I checked it out and it does look like a pretty sweet server,
with plenty going for it. I like how easy it was to set up,
plenty of hiccups, but about 100 times easier than putting
together an apache + mod_perl server from the get-go.

I also thought it was particularly cool how the web server
was supposedly written in the same PIKE scripting language
that is native to the server.

I benched the roxen RXML with a simple Hello World script,
with results & methodology at:

  http://www.chamas.com/hello_world.html

and its pretty fast, but on NT doesn't clock any faster
than the mod_perl embedded scripting environments,
so should also be slower than PHP on short scripts.

Code Type Web Server Application Hits/s
---------	----------	----------- ------
Perl CGI apache 1.3.6 mod_perl/registry 51
Embperl apache 1.3.6 mod_perl/embperl 1.2b10 46
ASP PerlScript apache 1.3.6 mod_perl/asp .17 42
RXML roxen 1.3.2 roxen/challenger 41

RXML is pretty low on the benchmarks ratings at the above URL because
I didn't do it on any UNIX, and if you could submit a UNIX bench,
that would be very cool. NT tends to be slower for these things.
