     Solami(Solaris) certainly isn't 100% problem free, but it is better than

     Forget the HP compiler.  It won't compile it.  I gave up on gcc 2.8.1.  I
was getting periodic crashes in mit-pthreads.  Check the mailing list archives
for a brief description of the hack I went through.

     Monty, I took a quick look at trying to get the config scripts to do what 
is needed, but no dice.
