Solami(Solaris) certainly isn't 100% problem free, but it is better than
HPUX.

Yup:
cheops:/usr/local/mysql: mysql
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 285827 to server version: 3.22.20a-debug
Type 'help' for help.
mysql> Bye
cheops:/usr/local/mysql: uname -a
HP-UX cheops B.10.20 A 9000/715 2013490131 two-user license
cheops:/usr/local/mysql: gcc -v
Reading specs from /usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/hppa1.1-hp-hpux10.20/egcs-2.91.66/specs
gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314 (egcs-1.1.2 release)
Forget the HP compiler. It won't compile it. I gave up on gcc 2.8.1. I
was getting periodic crashes in mit-pthreads. Check the mailing list archives
for a brief description of the hack I went through.
Monty, I took a quick look at trying to get the config scripts to do what
is needed, but no dice.

An NT server can be run by an idiot, and usually is.
