Dear Martin,
If you can't get a new binary version of MySQL for Irix 5.3, please
mail to the mysql mailing list the problems you run into while
compiling. It is very likely that someone can help you
further. Please read first the section 'How to report bugs or
problems' from the manual. There is a binary of MySQL for Irix 5.3 at
http://www.tcx.se/download.html, link: Binary of 3.21.16 for irix5.3 on
mips (sgi). This is, alas, an older version of MySQL anyway..
