Subject:Error 1033, still having major problems
View as plain text
Thanks to those who tried to help last week.
After a weekend of trying to debug this, I still have no idea what the
deal is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The problem;
1) I have a tape backup of /var/lib/mysql (where all my tables live).
2) The hard drive on my server crashed completely so I bought a new one,
re-installed the OS (sticking with the same distribution and version of
mysqld)
3) Upon restoring the data from tape, roughly 10% of my ISAM tables give
me a 1033 error (Incorrect information in file: './x/y.frm').
4) I tried older tapes and got the same problem.
5) This problem does not appear to affect any of my MyISAM tables
(although it might, I've been too busy trying to get the ISAMs working
again).

Things people suggested:
1) Go back to the old machine because ISAMs aren't binary compatible
across platforms. - I'm on the old machine, the only change is a new hard
drive (both drives were even by the same mfg'er)
2) Upgrade/downgrade Mysql to a newer/older version
3) Use isamchk (error: 'y' is not a ISAM-table)
4) Use isamchk on the ISM file specifically (error: 'y.ISM is not a
ISAM-table)

Does anyone have any ideas? This is killing me!

Thanks in advance,
Brian
