This question has a rather high "duh" factor to it.

What do you think?

Let's illustrate this with an example:

>>start transaction
> update mytable1 set ...
> update mytable2 set...
> insert into mytable3 ...

--> connection broken

Now, does the server know if these are all statements to be
issued in this single transaction? No, it doesn's. So ROLLBACK
it is.
