Subject:accessing mysql 4.1.2 unicode features using C API
View as plain text
Hi,

I am really pleased with the new unicode features of MySQL4.1.2 alpha release. I am just a
little surprised that there is still only one API call which returns the character set???
(And it returns the collating encoding instead of the real character set?)

I was wondering if there is a way to access all unicode features (DATABASE default
character set/collating, TABLE character set/collating and COLUMN character
set/collating) from the C API? Also, any mysql_string_literal() support for unicode would
also be appreciated.

I looked all over for more info on this with no success,

If anyone was able to use unicode features from C (or through any other language which
uses the C API), please drop me a note,

regards,

Paul
