exporting big access file to mySQL corrupts access DB

I have fairly big table to be exported ( via access97 ) to a mysql DB
running on a remote server. 


Each attempt results in err: (TCX)(MyODBC)Unknown column '110yyyyy' in
'field list'(#1054)

I know that this occurs some 500 records into the save.


Also, after failure, all links from access to mysql are busted and
cannot be restored by rebooting or using the Link Table Manager.

The only thing that seems to work is to delete the bad links and redo
them.
