We are now initiating beta testing for our online database service at
http://www.datafree.com.
DataFree is completely Internet-based GUI application development
environment that uses MySQL for underlying SQL data storage.
I am personally very interested in what the MySQL community thinks of
this service.
I think it is very interesting the way we solve problems with online
application development, and I would love to here feedback from others.
Here is a good example that demonstrates what the system can do:
http://www.datafree.com/demo/dc?s=156-157-158&p=3&m=n&db=survey&d=f&k=195&a=er
During the beta test period we are encouraging developers to test the
system.
You can hop on the developer playground
http://www.datafree.com/demo/dc?db=playground database without even
logging in.
If you wish to create a test database, create a new account and go to
the Group Database area. If you wish to beta test a database for some
time period, please contact us after creating it because we will clean
up the test areas from time to time.
We are also interested in hosting free database services for Internet
communities, especially open source software such as Linux and MySQL.
Please contact us if you have ideas or needs.
There are some demo application found at
http://www.datafree.com/demo/dc
Administration is documented at:

IMPORTING DATA
At this time, you may only upload data to the system using an SQL Script
such as one produced by MySQL's sqldump feature. You must contact us if
you wish to utilize this feature.
Information about DataCrawler technology can be found at
http://www.datacrawler.com.
We are excited about the potential for this kind of online service, yet
we are not sure what developers will require. As you will find, the
system is structured yet customizable. I have been working with MySQL
for some time now and feel that it is one of the best lightweight and
fast SQL databases around. Please let me know of any
comments/suggestions/complaints/observations.
