How can I become an Expert MySql User?

I've been using MYSQL for a couple of years now. And can write some
pretty complex WHERE statements. I've become aware that's really only
tip of the iceberg stuff.

Can readers suggest a "gentle" path to moving onto JOINS and a more
fundamental understanding of DBs
