pls recommend hardware for high usage mysql server

Hi,

I have an application (an online bookstore) which
uses mysql.

For a potential client, the db will have 1.1
million product records, 1.1 million price
records, 200,000 Author records, and 200,000
category records.

What server architecture/config is recommended for
this?

I was thinking of a MIPS-based RaQ2 running Linux
with a 250Mhz 64bitCPU and 128Mb of Ram.

Would this be adequate?

I attempted a sizing of the database on our local
testbed webserver (a dinky intel 200Mhz with 64Mb
of Ram) and it is bloody slow, even with just
170,000 prduct records instead of 1.1 million
.....

Pls respond ASAP, help much appreciated!!
