Need help with an update

[System Administrator a.k.a. The Root of the Problem]

Here is the scenario.

I was running 3.23.39 that came with BSD/OS 4.3  ,

All the databases were running active.

I upgraded to BSD/OS 5.0 which has Mysql 3.23.49 and
suddenly NO databases are seen.

Everything is where is is supposed to be, but the mysqld
is not seeing the DBs that were running with 3.23.39.

What do I need to do to correct this??
