The fetchrow_array method fetches the next result row and returns an
array with all the field values (the field names don';t matter in this
case, as you just get an array of values).  With th code above you
only store the first one of these fields in $code ...
Try this:
              while (($code,$id) = $sth->fetchrow_array)
>             {
>               print("Code", $code);  # this is fine
>               print("ID",$id); # this is problem         
>             }
