Again, BSD/OS is NOT FreeBSD.  MySQL runs perfectly fine on BSD/OS 3.1 
and 4.0 and 4.0.1.  The problem observed here is most likely due to
the additional pickyness of the latest gcc, which is NOT standard on
BSD/OS 4.0.1.  If you build with the stock BSD/OS tools, it works just 
fine.
