HELP! Problem persist...

Hi friends,

Im try to install MySQL 3.22.20a-1 on red hat 2.0.34 with RPM package.

> rpm --rebuild MySQL-3.22.20a-1.src.rpm

During intall proccess, at checkings stage, the follow error occur:

checking whether the C++ compiler (gcc -O6 -fomit-frame-pointer
   -felide-constructors -fno-exceptions -fno-rtti ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler
cannot create executables.
.
.

why do this ? how i solve this problem ?
i reinstalled the complete linux with full options and problem persists.

I install msql-2.0.8 and this works ok on intallation procedure.

my gcc version is 2.7.2.3
i have 223 Mb of free disk space on pentium 133 - 32Mram
I run the rpm with root user
