Subject:Segmentation fault when accessing mysql from non-local host
View as plain text
>Description:

I've installed mysql 3.23.52 from source on RedHat Linux 7.3 ... when I try to access
the server from a non-local host, it gives the following error:

/usr/local/mysql-3.23.52/bin/safe_mysqld: line 273: 5979 Segmentation fault
$NOHUP_NICENESS $ledir/$MYSQLD $defaults --basedir=$MY_BASEDIR_VERSION --datadir=$DATADIR
$USER_OPTION --pid-file=$pid_file --skip-locking >>$err_log 2>&1

>How-To-Repeat:
That is a thing, that I don't know...

>Fix:
It seems, that something is wrong with the dns query... I've put a line in /etc/hosts
with the host from which I tried to access, and this solved the problem... This specific
host had a real hostname, visible from the internet...
