$result = mysql_query($query,$connection) or die(mysql_error());

That should tell you why mysql or php is not inserting the data, and give
you a pretty good idea of what is wrong.

I'd suggest you learn a habbit of using mysql_error(), it's a *very* usefull
function.

You're variables should also be written as $_POST['varname'] instead of
$varname, register_globals changed, and its good coding practises to write
them this way.
